      The skin has different layers and the top layer is known as the epidermis. The cells in the epidermis produce a protein called keratin (also what your hair is made of). This lets your skin help protect you from things around you that could harm you (such as heat). Keratin actually isn’t that stretchy. This is good cause we wouldn’t want to be tripping over our skin! There is a disorder called hyperelastic skin. This skin is super stretchy and people with this type of skin can pull it sometimes 10 inches away from their bodies!
